One of my pet peeves is people who ask for prayer and never report back about what happened.  So I'm devoting this first week of the year to letting you know about the difference your prayers have made.  Last March I asked for prayer for a friend of mine who was facing what seemed to me to be a demonic attack.  His father-in-law was threatening his family.  He had said: "I know that I need to torture and kill humans. The prettier the family the better. I'm going to kill your sister and her husband and their kids. I've put together an arsenal."   So my friend asked us for prayer.  And your response showed the beauty of the blogosphere - 116 of you responded and said you'd pray!

I reported to you several times after that and asked my friend to share what has happened since then.  Here's his update:

This has been going on for some time now, and we greatly appreciate all the prayers.  We have seen God working through and in-spite of our little faith.  When this first began, our initial thoughts were to our safety, and those of our children...my father-in-laws safety and security was secondary to our own.  Through this event, and through the prayers of others I have seen myself, but most drastically, my wife change.  From at first, when she was nearly paralyzed with fear, to now when she walks in boldness and courage.

My father-in-law is my father-in-law.  He has his moments of rage when he calls and berates me on the phone, spews venom from hell, and explodes in anger when I speak.  He still offers threats and has been arrested twice.  (illegal guns and ammo; and meth).  Somehow, in the hills of the Ozarks, this isn't seen as abnormal as the rest of the world so he has been on probation.

The first few months were filled with fear and dread, but that has all past.  Even when his name shows up on my phone screen, the sick feeling I had before has been replaced with a hope that he is calling to repent, or share some great news.  Although he hasn't changed (at least that we can see) we have and we thank YOU for your steadfastness in prayer.
