The following is from a pastor in Atlanta. He's 98 years old and lives in an assisted living center. He has cancer that has metastasized, is blind in one eye, has neuropathy and torn rotator cuffs. His wife of 75 years died, leaving him alone. Here are some things he has learned:

Pay CANCER no mind. "God, if You want to live in a body with cancer, that is Your business."

I should always give a REPORT, not a COMPLAINT. A COMPLAINT is telling God He doesn’t know what He is doing.

GRIEF is important and spiritual. There is BAD GRIEF and GOOD GRIEF.
We say it often: “Good grief!”. Those in grief must reach through their grief to get wholeness.

God always knows your address.

Where I cannot trace God’s hand, I can trust God’s heart.

Find a hard spot in a person and massage it.

I tell visitors, "Send a text when you arrive. There is no need to knock and get the dog involved."

I won’t open any windows, if God doesn’t open the door.

Remember to be kind to everybody … and feed the birds!

After 75 years of marriage, there is great difficulty in aloneness. The question is: Which part of me is her, and which part is me?

Lord, send as many angels as it takes to get the job done.

'The good shepherd knows where the sheep are … and brings them home.
